You Can Create Your Own Metaverse on Facebook: Crayta Added to Facebook Gaming!

Meta announced that Crayta, developed by Unit Games, which it bought last year, has entered the Facebook Gaming cloud streaming service, and that Crayta will provide the opportunity to create and play games both on mobile phones and computers.

While major investments continue to be made in the virtual reality field, Meta announced that Unit 2 Games, the developer of the game development platform called Crayta, was acquired by Facebook last year. Meta announced today that it has brought Crayta to Facebook Gaming’s cloud streaming service, which lets you create and play games with your friends in real-time.

The company acquired Unit 2 Games, the game studio behind Crayta, in June 2021. While the financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, the entire Unit 2 Games team participated in Meta. Initially released exclusively for Google Stadia, Crayta was later made available to users on the Epic Games Store.

Crayta makes it easy to develop 2D games

Meta explained that Crayta has an extremely easy-to-use developer toolkit, and you can develop games and play with your friends on your mobile phone or on your computer. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said at the launch, “If you want a game to run in a high-quality 3D environment, it’s very difficult to produce it in a browser or on a phone. However, being able to do this thanks to the cloud infrastructure and then sharing it with the whole world is quite a progress,” he said.

After making Crayta available on Facebook Gaming cloud streaming service, other users don’t need to download the game to their computer to play. The platform, which is completely free to play, will be available to anyone with a Facebook account. Zuckerberg stated that until now, most people think of Metaverse as virtual and augmented reality 3D experiences, but this feature offered by Crayta shows that Metaverse experiences can be created and enjoyed very easily, even in any 2D environment.

It is possible to create games on the platform in 15 minutes

With Crayta, the company says it’s possible to create a simple, multiplayer game in as little as 15 minutes and share it with the world, without the need for coding or other skills. The platform allows 20 people to play games at the same time. In addition, in the announcement made today, Zuckerberg announced that the Facebook Gaming cloud gaming section is also available in Western Europe.
