iPhone 12 Becomes the Top Selling Phone in the First Quarter of 2021 (Galaxy S21 Failed to Make It Even Top 10)

Counterpoint Research has announced the top-selling and top-selling smartphones in the first quarter of 2021. Even though the iPhone 12 was the best selling smartphone by number, it ranked second in terms of revenue.
Counterpoint Research shared smartphone sales data for the first quarter of 2021. The shared data revealed the smart phones that earned the most to their manufacturer. in the first quarter of 2021 and the smart phone models that reached the highest sales in terms of units.

When we look at the basis of both revenue and sales, we see that Apple’s iPhone 12 family, which is the most up-to-date iPhone models available, dominates the smartphone market. Especially on a revenue basis, the three iPhone 12 models account for a third of all smartphone revenue.

iPhone 12 models generated a third of all smartphone revenue

The iPhone 12 Pro Max, Apple’s most expensive iPhone model available, is the model with the highest revenue share with 12 percent. It is followed by iPhone 12 with 11 percent and iPhone 12 Pro with 9 percent. In addition, the Galaxy S21 Ultra, Samsung’s most expensive smartphone, is Samsung’s most revenue-generating model.

The data shared by Counterpoint Research clearly shows that “premium” smartphones, the price of which is often controversial, earn more to their manufacturers. The fact that the iPhone 12 Pro Max has earned more than the iPhone 12 and the Galaxy S21 Ultra than the Galaxy S21 is a clear indication of this. In addition, the fact that 8 out of the top 10 revenue generating phones are 5G supported, indicates that 5G has become the standard, at least in the flagship segment.
